I joined my friend's birthday in China and let an AI agent edit the whole trip πŸŽ‚πŸ‡¨πŸ‡³
Primary effect: Bar reveal. Horizontal bars slide in and pull the daytime Guangzhou street over the night flight shot, right as the plane lands.
Starting footage: 94 phone clips from my trip, from Jessore to Dhaka, a night flight to Guangzhou, a bullet train to Henan, my friend's office, and his birthday dinner with his family. I trimmed them down to the best 60 before uploading them to invideo Editor.
What I asked the agent to do: I set up my timeline agent (I named it Luffy, One Piece fans will get it) and gave it the clips and the story order. Then I directed it in rounds:
- Build a rough cut. It moved the birthday to the front as the hook on its own, so the payoff became the opening.
- Add a travel track around 100 BPM and cut to the beat.
- Place markers on the key cuts and build a bar reveal on the landing shot.
- Add a shape flicker on the night city cuts.
- Add hand-drawn doodle spirals around the people at the dinner.
- Generate the X-ray shot.
What I refined myself:
- Tightened the birthday section by removing repeated table shots, and held the neon "Happy Birthday" sign longer before the toast.
- Changed the sketch effect. The first version covered the whole frame, so I asked for doodles only around the people.
- Added the text overlays by hand on the timeline.
Honest lesson: one 30-second AI generation ate all my credits halfway through πŸ˜… Plan your credits before you go wild.
