Contra is full of bots and fake profiles and nobody wants to talk about it.
I left LinkedIn because it became a joke. Fake recruiters, AI slop, bots everywhere. Came here because it looked different. Exclusive. Professional. A place for actual people doing actual work. "Challenges are great"
It's not.
I've had job offers from someone using Mr Beast's photo. $550 gigs from accounts created last week with no portfolio, no history, no real name. I'd say 80% of what I receive here is fake.
This platform sold itself as the alternative. The clean version. And it's turning into the same garbage, maybe worse.
If you're a real human creator reading this just say hi. Share your story in one line. That's it.
I genuinely hope to work with real people here. That's the whole reason I came.
Interesting point. Platforms definitely need strong moderation to keep opportunities authentic for real creators. Transparency and better verification could help build more trust in the ecosystem.

hey there, we do have strict moderation guidelines but sometimes mistakes happen and things fall through.
if you ever see a fake client or job request come through, please report it to us at hello@contra.com so we can remove it.
But this is exactly the issue. Contra promotes itself as a platform that’s better curated and safer for creators. In reality, a lot of fake profiles and suspicious job posts still slip through.

Two months later: 141 → 158. Still top 5%.
Last time I posted, my Contra Discovery Score was 141.
Today it’s 158, and I’m still in the top 5% of creatives.
A few things changed since then.
I became a Lummi Expert, which gave me an expert badge, featured placement, and more visibility inside Contra.
I also stopped treating my portfolio like a gallery and started treating it more like proof.
Recently I added a full Aegir Aqua case study series:
Brand identity, packaging & 3D
Presentation design
Website design & development
Same client, but split into separate case studies so each type of work is easier for clients to understand.
That has probably been the biggest portfolio improvement for me lately.
I’m also still sending proposals consistently.
That part hasn’t changed.
My last post was basically saying: if your profile is already strong, the problem is often not the profile it’s volume.
I still believe that.
But now I’d add one thing:
Volume gets you seen. Proof gets you taken seriously.
A strong proposal gets the click.
A strong case study gives the client a reason to stay.
And having both working together is where things start compounding.
So the progress since August:
