The Last Memory
Coin cabinet — Charles Percier, Paris, ca. 1809–19
The Last Memory reimagines Charles Percier's Coin cabinet as an archive of human memory. Instead of preserving coins and medals, its drawers preserve fleeting fragments of human life. Most compartments have gone dark, leaving only a few fragile memories behind. I kept the cabinet grounded in the visual language of a real museum artifact and introduced one impossible idea: what if memory itself could be physically preserved?

Reframing a museum artifact as an archive of failing human memory is such a beautiful concept. The dark compartments and fragile remaining memories make the piece feel genuinely melancholic. Really strong entry for the Flora challenge.
Turning a storage object into a vessel for human memory is such a brilliant reframing. The idea that most compartments have gone dark is haunting in the best way.

Leaving most of the compartments dark is the smart choice here: the empty drawers carry as much of the memory as the lit ones. Grounding it in a real Percier artifact is what makes the impossible idea feel believable.

The archive framing is lovely—Dark Mode gives the memories a more intimate, cinematic feel, while the layout stays easy to scan. I’d make that contrast the key decision point.
