A stranger should understand your business within 30 seconds.
Your homepage feels obvious to you because you already know every service, location and next step.
A new visitor knows none of that. Set a 30-second timer and check these seven things.
1. Main headline
Does it say who you help and what problem you solve? “Quality service you can trust” fails because almost any business could say it.
2. Service area
Can visitors immediately see where you operate? If they must search the footer to learn whether you serve their area, they may leave first.
3. Core service
Can they identify what you mainly sell without opening the menu? Giving ten services equal attention forces visitors to work out where to begin.
4. Clear difference
Does the page explain why someone should choose you? Use a concrete reason, such as 24-hour availability, specialist experience or a specific process.
5. Relevant reviews
Place proof near the claims it supports. A review mentioning the exact service is more useful than five vague comments saying, “Great company.”
6. Contact details
Your phone number, WhatsApp or email should be visible and clickable on mobile. Hiding everything on a separate contact page adds another chance to lose the visitor.
7. One primary CTA
Choose one action, such as “Get a Quote,” “Book an Appointment” or “Call Now.” If “Learn More,” “Explore Services” and “Contact Us” compete, the visitor must make a decision before taking action.
Now ask someone unfamiliar with your business to view the homepage for 30 seconds.
Can they tell you who you help, what you do, where you operate and what they should click next?
Your homepage does not need to explain everything in 30 seconds. It needs to help the right visitor recognise that they are in the right place and take the next step without guessing.
Save this checklist and use it to test your homepage today.
