I had a client once who wanted every social media post to look exactly the same.
Same layout.
Same style.
Same visual structure.
The idea was simple: “If everything looks consistent, people will recognize the brand.
”And yes, consistency matters.
But there was a problem.
A product announcement, a 30% discount, an educational post, and a new-product launch were all being designed almost exactly the same way.
The brand was consistent—but the content was becoming predictable. That's when I explained something important:
Consistency doesn't mean making every post look identical.
A good social media design system should make the brand recognizable while allowing each post to communicate its own purpose.
A promotional post needs to create urgency.
An educational post needs to make information easy to understand.
A product post needs to make the product the hero.
An announcement needs to make the message immediately clear.
The colors, typography, visual language, and overall identity can remain connected—but the design should change according to the message.
That's the difference between simply creating social media graphics and actually designing content for a business.
Your brand should be recognizable.
Your posts shouldn't be predictable.
