Before you celebrate, there’s one important step you CAN'T skip:
Telling Google your website exists 👀
A live website does not necessarily = an indexed website. If Google hasn’t indexed your website, it won't appear when potential clients search for you.
Here’s what to do:
1️⃣ Go to Google Search Console and create a free account.
2️⃣ Add your website as a property and verify that you own it.
3️⃣ Find your website’s sitemap (ChatGPT can help you find this quickly - just ask!)
4️⃣ Inside Search Console, click Sitemaps, enter your sitemap URL, and click Submit.
5️⃣ Use the URL Inspection tool to check your homepage and other important pages. If a page isn’t indexed, click Request Indexing.
6️⃣ Check back under Page Indexing to make sure Google can access your pages and there aren’t any errors blocking them.
Will this automatically make your website rank at the top of Google? Nope. But it IS a necessary first step to get your website showing up at all so they have the opportunity to rank in search results.
(Google may take a few days to a few weeks to crawl and index a new website, so don’t panic if it doesn’t happen immediately!!)
