I built Recess, a social sports platform, for the Figma Config Makeathon.

The idea came from a simple problem I experienced. Finding a sports venue is easy, but finding people for a casual game is much harder. Most existing platforms focus on booking courts, but they rarely help you connect with others who simply want to play for fun, stay active, and meet new people.

Recess is a mobile app designed for beginners, casual players, and anyone returning to sports after a break. It helps users discover, join, and host local sports matches while building meaningful connections within a welcoming community.

The experience is intentionally low pressure. Every screen is designed to make joining a game feel comfortable, whether you're trying a sport for the first time or picking it up again after years. The app covers the complete journey, including onboarding, match discovery, booking, payments, community engagement, hosting games, and profile management.

This project was also an opportunity to explore Figma's latest products. I used Figma Make to build the application, Figma Design to refine and customize the interface, and Figma Agent to generate design variations and assist with content creation throughout the process. It was exciting to see how these tools helped me move from an idea to a polished product much faster while still allowing room for thoughtful design decisions.
