People see a pink UI and immediately say “it feels feminine.”
But what does that even mean, and why is it usually said like a limitation?
Softness, warmth, elegance, calm, these are emotional qualities, not gendered ones.
Yet somewhere along the way, “feminine” got reduced to “not serious,” or “not for everyone,” when in reality it’s just another valid design language.
So here’s the real question: If something feels feminine, does that automatically mean it’s only for women?
Or have we just been conditioned to associate certain aesthetics with exclusion, instead of experience?
Because not every product has to look cold, sharp, or corporate to be taken seriously. Sometimes what we call “feminine” is just comfort, emotional clarity, and softness done intentionally.
And maybe the issue isn’t the pink UI at all, maybe it’s how quickly we assign meaning to it.
