I remember redesigning a logo for a client a couple of weeks ago. As always, I made at least 3 suggestions. But for one of them, I worked longer. I perfected it — like a Michelin restaurant dish — just for the client to choose one of the other two. I was genuinely sad 😂 and felt like I had wasted a lot of time. One of the worst mistakes you can make as a designer — whether you’re working on an interface, a logo, or anything else for a client — is falling in love with your work. Shift your mindset. Fall in love with the problem you’re solving, rather than what you make. You’ll probably enjoy your work way more in the long run 😉.
