Someone once told me my writing sounded like AI.
It stung. But it was the most useful thing anyone's said about my work.
Because they were right about that piece. It was clean. Correct. And completely forgettable. It could've been written by anyone — or anything.
Here's what I've learned since: sounding human isn't about big words or perfect grammar. It's the opposite. It's the small, specific, slightly imperfect things. The detail only you would remember. The way you'd actually say it out loud. The thought that's a little too honest.
AI can write "5 tips for productivity." It can't write the story about the morning you almost quit.
That's the whole difference. And it's why I don't write posts that sound polished — I write posts that sound like the person behind them.
If your content sounds like everyone else's, it's not a writing problem. It's a you're not in it problem.

As AI continues to reshape the creative industry, I believe its greatest value is as an assistant to the creative process—not a replacement for the creative artist. AI can help us explore ideas, improve workflows, and accomplish more, but the vision, emotion, instinct, and lived experience behind meaningful storytelling should remain human.
The images captured by Top End Shoots represent real people, real moments, and real experiences. My role was to bring those moments together through editing and sound design, shaping the footage into a cohesive story while preserving the authenticity of the original work.

The best copy doesn't give you information.
It gives you a thought you already had, but couldn't put into words.
That's why good copy feels less like being convinced...and more like being understood.
That distinction between information and recognition is beautifully put—the second line especially explains why a message can feel instantly familiar. I’d love to see this idea used as a test for headlines: does the reader feel seen before they feel sold to?
A lot of copywriters try to make their copy sound smart.
I think the better goal is to make the reader think: “Wait. How did they know I was thinking this?”
That usually doesn't come from bigger words or clever phrases.
It comes from paying attention to how people actually talk, what they complain about, what they avoid saying, and what they wish someone would just understand.
Good copy isn't always clever. Sometimes it's just painfully accurate.
