Lead Detective
Config Makeathon 2026 Submission
Inspiration
Learning UI/UX often feels passive. Most people consume tutorials, articles, and redesign challenges but rarely experience the direct impact that design decisions have on users and businesses.
I wanted to explore a different approach:
What if UI/UX could be learned through gameplay?
Lead Detective was created to transform website optimization into an interactive experience where players investigate interfaces, identify usability issues, make strategic decisions, and immediately see how those decisions influence trust, engagement, and conversions.
What it does
Lead Detective is a gamified UX learning platform designed around progressive challenges.
Players step into the role of a UX investigator and improve websites by discovering hidden problems and selecting the most effective solutions.
The prototype currently includes: 25 progressive levels Landing page optimization scenarios Lead generation and booking concepts Ecommerce customer journey concepts Decision-based gameplay Scoring and progression systems UX Academy learning modules Responsive desktop and mobile experiences
How I built it Lead Detective was designed and prototyped using Figma Make.
The project went through multiple iterations, focusing on balancing educational value, interactivity, and usability while staying within the constraints of the Makeathon timeline.
The prototype demonstrates the core gameplay loop:
Investigate → Identify Problems → Apply Improvements → Measure Impact → Progress
Challenges I ran into
One of the biggest challenges was translating a much larger vision into a working prototype within a limited timeframe.
Some advanced levels remain partially implemented, and several visual assets are still placeholders. However, the current submission successfully validates the core concept and demonstrates how UX education can become more engaging through interaction and experimentation.
What's next
Lead Detective has the potential to evolve into a complete learning ecosystem covering:
UI Design UX Fundamentals Conversion Optimization CRO Strategies Freelancing Gig Platforms Client Acquisition Portfolio Building Bidding and Proposal Writing Business Growth
My goal is to continue refining the experience after the Makeathon and transform it into a practical platform where users learn by solving realistic challenges rather than passively consuming content.
