While exploring the public domain search engine Picryl, I found original 19th-century Penny Dreadful magazines that fascinated me with how they showcased the deep-rooted social fears and moral panics of Victorian England. It inspired a question: What if the same victorian era experienced modern fears associated with new technology? How different are we in regards to our perception of change? How would society react? How would it appear in the entertainment publications that were popular by that time? It gave birth to this project.
THE SILICON SPECTRES:
"The narrative doth unfold as a most mysterious series of events, transpiring within a city of the Victorian era. Strange devices, hailing from a future not so distant, do persist in making their appearance, even as every soul within the city begins to exhibit behaviours most peculiar. 'Tis Detective John G. Blackwood who hath taken it upon himself to investigate this curious affair; and the question doth remain — shall he discover what lurks behind these strange devices, and thereby save the souls of the citizens thereof?"
