This is my submission for the Rive Game Jam. It’s a 2.5D billboard-style shooter inspired by Fallout, built entirely in Rive using a custom billboard rendering system, with all gameplay logic and mechanics written in scripts. All animations and visuals were created directly inside the Rive editor, with a focus on atmosphere and an interactive world.

My entry for the Games with Rive challenge, finally! I was super happy to put my game dev skills to use.
⚔️ Battle Stride — a card-based dungeon crawler where you lay down path cards to guide a soldier through procedurally generated dungeons, battle enemies, and collect relics.
I used Rive's state machines to drive all the character and card animations, data binding to keep the HUD in sync with game state, and listeners for interactive hover and click effects on the cards.
All the art—characters, cards, tiles, and relics—was hand-drawn and animated in Rive's editor using vector shapes, then exported as lightweight files for the web.
Audio events in the state machine handle combat and pickup sounds. The whole thing runs in the browser with lightweight vector exports.

1930s Style Shooter built in Rive 🐦🎞️
For the Rive Game Challenge on Contra, I built a fully playable shooter inspired by "Crazy Chicken." Visually, I went for a retro 1930s aesthetic: I hand-drew every asset, mixing Frame-by-Frame animation with Rive bones.
I built this in just six days! It is currently in Beta (WIP), but I plan to keep developing it.
✅ Dynamic Spawning: Using Artboard:instance() for bird prefabs.
✅ Logic: Mechanics via Node Script Lifecycle (init, advance, draw).
✅ ViewModel: HUD & State sync via context:viewModel().
✅ Rendering: Manual control over render stack & matrix transforms.
✅ Input: Precise hitbox queries & pointer event forwarding.

So, I’m no graphics designer, OR animator, AND I only found out about this challenge last Friday, and those other entries are AMAZING, so I’m not sure what I’m doing here, but I really wanted to be here, so here I am with my stick figures, hah.
Five evenings. Pure Rive. Blended together some bones ’n’ strokes, nested artboards, fun scripts, state machines (I will forever be in love with those), and NOT. A. SINGLE. SMI. All pure ViewModels and data bindings and all that useful stuff! Cute baby, fluffy monsters, driven mother, all for you to enjoy this simple click-to-kick mini game. Careful though. You may run out of Energy Points. Or you baby - out of Courage Points…
