Today I was laid off from my role. After dedicating almost 2 years to the company. Helping turn around a whole team that was failing before I joined, I'm a part of a layoff. I turned down other opportunities to stay committed to what we were doing at the company.
With that being said, maybe it was a blessing. A way to do what I want and build something.
A way to take on clients and work for myself.
That stings, especially after turning things around for the team. But honestly this sounds like the push towards something much bigger. Rooting for you!
Don't let it get you down. I was terminated from my own company a few years back by VC's on the board, they decided an AI startup didn't need a designer anymore. My confidence was crushed for months.
Tough situation, but your mindset is spot on. Two years of impact, turning a struggling team around, and now an opportunity to focus on what you really want building, creating, and taking ownership. Excited to see what you do next!
