I'm interested in typography not only as language, but as material.
Before designing on a screen, I like to build with my hands.
This is not a 3D render or a digital illustration.
It's a photograph of a real composition made entirely with lead type.
Every letter was selected, arranged and balanced by hand before being photographed.
Working with physical materials changes the way I think about typography. Weight, gravity and light become part of the design process, allowing the material itself to influence the final composition.
This dialogue between analogue craftsmanship and digital design is becoming an increasingly important part of my practice.
