I designed this ebook cover for The Awakening by Gary M. Martin, creating a high-concept visual layout designed to signal supernatural suspense, urban fantasy, and mystery to prospective readers.
Key Design Highlights
Narrative Focus & Positioning: Placed dual protagonists in a rear-facing stance approaching an isolated, brick structure, instantly building intrigue around their journey and revealing supernatural power through the fire elemental effect held in the male character's hand.
Atmospheric Mood & Lighting: Rendered a dark, stormy sky backdrop backlit by a glowing full moon to cast strong directional lighting, creating high contrast between the shadowed ground texture and the dramatic focal points.
Futuristic Sci-Fi/Fantasy Typography: Styled the main title "THE AWAKENING" using a sharp, geometric custom font with gold gradient fills, a subtle white drop glow, and clean outlines to ensure strong thumbnail readability.
Seamless Compositing: Integrated separate elements, the character figures, flame visual effects, textured brick building, surrounding terrain, and dynamic cloud cover, into a unified, atmospheric composite with realistic lighting integration and color matching.
