Ratchet is a beautiful white cat who has always lived a safe and loving life with his family. Everything changes when they take him on a long journey aboard a river ship.
A peaceful trip turns into a terrifying storm. Thunder, heavy rain, enormous waves, and a violent current separate Ratchet from the people he loves. He is swept into the water and eventually wakes up alone on a mysterious island.
The pilot follows Ratchet's journey from being a beloved family cat to becoming completely alone in an unfamiliar world. But the story doesn't end with his survival. On the island, Ratchet discovers a mysterious clue that suggests his family may have survived — giving him a reason to keep going.
The larger story is about love, separation, survival, hope, and finding your way home. Future episodes would follow Ratchet as he explores the island, uncovers what happened during the storm, meets new characters, and searches for his family.
The pilot ends with one central question:
Will Ratchet find his family again?
Creative Approach
I wanted the story to feel cinematic and emotional while keeping Ratchet at the center of every scene. His appearance, personality, and emotional journey remain consistent throughout the pilot. The contrast between the warmth of his home and the dangerous, mysterious world he enters helps establish the larger universe of the series.
I also wanted the ending to create curiosity rather than completely resolve the story, so the audience has a reason to continue watching.
Cantina Experience & Feedback
Cantina made it possible for me to turn a simple character idea into a cinematic story with environments, atmosphere, action, and emotional moments. I especially enjoyed exploring how the same character could be placed into completely different locations while maintaining his identity.
One area I would love to see improved is character consistency and fine-grained control between shots. Small changes in character appearance, movement, expressions, or scene details can sometimes happen between generations. More precise controls for maintaining character identity, directing specific movements, controlling lip-sync, and keeping continuity across multiple shots would make longer-form storytelling even stronger.
I also found that creating a continuous story requires careful prompting and multiple iterations. Better tools for shot-to-shot continuity, character memory, dialogue timing, and cinematic sequencing would make it easier for creators to build complete episodic worlds rather than individual clips.
Overall, Cantina allowed me to experiment with storytelling in a way that would have been difficult to create traditionally, and this pilot is my starting point for Ratchet's much bigger journey.

Continuing with the #Halloween season, thrilled to bring back one of our favorite dark #fantasy collaborations with the incredible Axel Kinnear! 🏰🕯️
Stepping back into these haunted stone halls felt like the perfect way to keep the #spooky atmosphere alive. To match the gothic mystery of the castle, we built an original score anchored by the haunting grandeur of a pipe organ, blending an ethereal children’s chorus with dark analog #synth arpeggios that keep tension simmering beneath the surface. Alongside the #music, we shaped rich, tactile #sounddesign weaving arcane magical transitions, heavy stone #foley, and shadowy atmospheric details directly into the rhythm of the #animation.
