Kickstarted a brand strategy project for a healthy beverage brand this month.
One thing this project reminded me of is how easily brand strategy can spiral into 50-slide decks, endless documents, and a room full of people pretending they're still paying attention.
But the strongest brands I've come across, whether D2C or B2B, didn't win because they had the longest strategy deck.
They won because they answered four questions really well with a solid clarity:
→ WHAT do you do? (positioning) → WHY do you exist? (story) → WHO are you? (values) → HOW do you want people to feel? (personality)
No jargon. No 100-page doc.
Everything else is just making those four answers consistent across every touchpoint.
Working through this project has been a good reminder that strategy isn't about writing more. It's about getting clearer.
What's the simplest brand framework you've found yourself coming back to?
