It started with a night out. Then another. Then several questionable decisions across three countries.

They said the clean girl era was over and the party girl was back. Lovely. Nobody mentioned the party girl would also need to be a travel agent, logistics coordinator and unpaid crisis manager.

I spent September and October in Manila, Bangkok and Bali on what I’d confidently declared my year of side quests. My agenda? Good music, good company, and maybe kissing someone new in every country. I’m a startup founder on holiday, not a nun on pilgrimage.

Instead, Bangkok handed me administrative DLC. I wanted Ke$ha and Icona Pop. I got techno in a club with six people and a dream. I wanted to meet men. I got a tuk-tuk Splenda daddy. Not even a sugar daddy. SPLENDA.

And somehow between cover charges, figuring out where the actual party was and getting everyone home, I’d become the operations manager of a multinational drinking expedition.

Which is offensive. I’m supposed to be making questionable decisions, not coordinating them in a spreadsheet.

Then I thought: hang on. I have Base44. I could literally BUILD my night out!

So I built AfterHours: a mobile-first nightlife concierge to find the right venues, book tables, organise the group, coordinate hosts and rides, and help everyone get home safely.

Because bad decisions should be recreational, not infrastructural.

Then auth breaks, database need a migration, one integration stops working, and somehow it’s 2 AM 😅

Writing the change is usually easy. Finding everything it can break is the real work.
