Most n8n workflows are built for the happy path. These are the 4 silent failures I design for before anything goes live.
1. The trigger stops firing. No execution means no failed execution, so the log looks healthy while the leads stop arriving. A separate watchdog on its own schedule checks a heartbeat row and alerts when it goes stale, or goes missing.
2. The same record arrives twice. A retry or a re-sent webhook would create a second CRM record. A hashed idempotency key is checked before any write.
3. The LLM returns the wrong shape. A strict schema check sends anything invalid to a dead-letter table with the raw response attached, never downstream.
4. One write succeeds, the next fails. The first write is compensated, so no half-record survives to be trusted later.
The 3 workflows (35 nodes) are public, so you can open the JSON and judge for yourself. github.com/mzackarrya-stack/n8n-hardened-lead-pipeline
