A client hired me specifically because I was an expert in their niche. As the website project was wrapping up, the client suddenly started making last-minute decisions and exploring new directions.
Each decision differed from the last, which pointed to high indecision, aka getting cold feet.
Clients who get cold feet need reassurance that you’re heading in the right direction. To get us across the finish line, I gave them one consolidated feedback document and one final review cycle before launch, with a 48-hour deadline. Any ideas after that would be billed.
This gave them space to sit down, sift through their thoughts, and send confident feedback aligned with the website’s goal.
After that document, they became more confident in the finished product, and we successfully wrapped the project.
The tug of war with clients is less about control than confidence. It’s not always that they don’t trust your expertise to lead. Sometimes, they just need to see that you have a process strong enough to get them there.
