Hey everyone! For this Makeathon, I wanted to use Figma Make to build an experience that breaks free from the mouse, keyboard, and touchscreen.
Fireflies in the Mist reimagines our everyday digital gestures by using your webcam:
👋 The Spatial Swipe: Wave your hand to blow the heavy fog away.
🤏 The Touchless Pinch: Pinch the air to "catch" glowing fireflies and drag them into the lantern.
Using only natural language I let Figma Make help me to make the real-time transition from a dense, misty screen to a clear, bioluminescent forest completely fluid and magical. It was an amazing challenge bringing this to life!

Hi,
I created a mini-game powered by the new Rive GPU Canvas. At its core is a real-time fluid simulation using the MPM algorithm. This liquid also generates smoke, which runs on a separate engine at the same time.
To make it look magical, I added pattern algorithms directly to the fluid particles -- like Gray-Scott, Belousov-Zhabotinsky, and particle combustion. By combining them, I built 19 presets that create beautiful, dynamic patterns right on the living liquid.
It’s fully interactive! You can play with it using your cursor or touch screen. You can even tilt your iPhone to control the fluid using its motion sensors. Mix different ingredients to unlock new, ever-changing effects.
The complex and impressive look of the liquid is achieved by custom rendering for refraction, background distortion, reflections, depth shading, and dynamic waves based on particle velocity
Finally, to bring the whole scene to life, I wrote some custom scripts. These animate particles, bubbles, flickering flames, and a wavy ghost that dynamically changes its shape.
A personal-brand site where the design does the selling — testimonials as a Stories-style deck, a colour that "develops" across a black-and-white portrait, an accordion carousel that works without JavaScript.
What I did: turned the Figma/React references into a lean Astro site (React removed), animations and carousels with no-JS fallbacks, deployed on Cloudflare Workers.
The accordion carousel without JavaScript caught my eye. Did you need to change any of the original interactions when you moved from the React references to Astro, or could you keep the design pretty much as it was?
