I built QRTUNES, a music sequencer that turns QR codes into music. Every generated QR pattern becomes a unique looping composition.
The idea is simple: a 21x21 QR grid gets split into three layers. Chords, melody, and rhythm. Black cells play notes, empty cells stay silent. Everything runs on a pentatonic scale so it always sounds harmonious, no matter what pattern comes up.
You hit generate, get a new QR with a unique seed, and press play. The playhead sweeps across the grid and you hear what that code sounds like. You can click cells to reshape the composition, tweak the BPM and swing, add delay or reverb.
The visual language blends pixel logic with a warm, analog-inspired palette, balancing retro computing with a cozy aesthetic.
I’m fascinated by the idea that patterns could carry their own melodies. I like the thought of patterns having a musical identity rather than just a visual one. QRTUNES is an experiment in turning these patterns into audible, unique signatures.

All of the weird uses of QR-codes always fascinate me, also the UI looks clean.
