I was wrong about MCP for about two months.
I used it badly, decided it was underpowered, and published a post saying so. Then I watched a terminal spawn a dozen sub-agents, hand each one a slice of my 268,000-word manuscript, and structurally edit the whole book. Several hours. About $200 USD. A full tier jump in quality.
That reframed everything. So we ran it across four things with nothing in common:
→ Rebuilt infiniteup homepage from a brochure into a business machine — grounded in raw Search Console data, organic traffic now more than doubling month on month off a small base. → Cleared a 126-item backlog on InfiniteUp Tasks, because we'd documented the tasks properly. The documentation turned out to be the asset. → Paired in FlutterFlow, where the model you choose changes the workflow more than the protocol does. → Edited a book.
The lesson underneath all four: MCP is write access, not a better chat window. The question stops being "what should I ask it" and becomes "what am I willing to let it touch."
I've written up all ten rules, including the unflattering ones — what it cost, why full autonomy was only safe because the product had zero users, and the controls we run now.

A WordPress site, a 126-task backlog, a FlutterFlow app and a 268,000-word book. What the Model Context Protocol actually did on each, what it cost, and the 10-rule cheat sheet that came out of it.
