Day 1 of Posting Educational content on Contra so the people who are into this industry and who are learning won't do the same mistakes that i did in the start of my journey. Most SaaS products don't fail because of bad code. They fail because of bad onboarding. Users sign up full of hope. Then they hit a blank dashboard, a 12-step setup wizard, or worse nothing that tells them what to do next. The mistake? Designing for the expert user instead of the confused beginner. Here's what I fix in every SaaS redesign: → The first screen should show value, not ask for setup → Tooltips should explain WHY, not just WHAT → Empty states should guide not just say "nothing here yet" → Progress should be visible people finish what feels achievable The fastest way to improve retention isn't adding features. It's removing the friction between sign-up and the first "aha moment." What's the worst onboarding experience you've ever had as a user?
