Does clinical accuracy make copy go stale?
I'm working on thought leadership content for a behavioral health company. Some of that content covers clinical topics like psychiatric medication, treatment protocols, and referral information.
Not exactly the most exciting thing to write about – or is it?
I'm a big nerd for mental health, so I am part of the small percentage of people that get excited about new frontiers in the field.
As a writer, my job is to draw in readers who are either as intrigued as I am, or just curious enough to keep reading.
However, FDA regulations, HIPAA restraints, and clinical accuracy can make the content sound less like thought leadership and more like another academic paper.
That's where I come in. I love finding the creative angle that piques a reader's curiosity. Storytelling is how I do it.

Even strong content can be difficult to understand when it’s presented without a clear flow. The audience may lose track of what really matters or simply stop paying attention.
Before creating the slides, I would first define the key message. Then I would decide which ideas are essential and which ones can be left out.
I would organize the content so each part naturally leads to the next. This makes the presentation easier to follow and keeps the story clear.
Another thing I would focus on is the amount of information on each slide. Too much text, too many charts, or too many visuals can make the content overwhelming and distract from the message.
A strong ending is just as important. I would leave the audience with a clear takeaway and a simple understanding of what they were meant to remember.
For me, good structure is about making ideas clear, keeping people engaged, and making the message easy to remember.

Have you ever wondered why some writers can write incredible pieces of text while others can barely form a string of words?
It has nothing to do with inner talent. While some people may be gifted with the ability to write fascinating prose, many great writers have built their writing careers on something else.
Is it hard work? In a broader sense, yes. However, once you understand this secret, your writing will improve overnight.
Edit Your Own Work
Write the piece and let it set still for one day. After that, open it and read it out loud. Some parts won't sound the way you wanted them to sound. That's okay, because you have a skill that will improve any piece of writing instantly.
I am talking, of course, about editing.
You see, most writers don't just sit at a chair, open a laptop, and start typing. No, for every great article you stumble upon on the internet, a person has written and rewritten that very piece.
Editing is what makes writing great, and if you take it seriously, it will help you deliver better work.
Do This Right
After you finish writing an article, set it aside for one day. Now, what you need to do is start editing it. But how?
Here are a couple of my methods of working on a piece of text.
1. Cut the unnecessary words from your text.
2. Choose concrete & precise language.
3. Prefer the active voice.
4. Shorten your sentences, and remove repeated words.
5. Start each paragraph with the most important information.
6. Read your work out loud.
These are the minimum requirements for good editing. Do this, and your writing will improve constantly.
