I designed a fintech onboarding flow this week for an app built around getting paid internationally and converting currency before sending it to a local bank account. Three screens, each pushing one idea: get paid from anywhere, hold and convert your money on your terms, then convert and send when you're ready.
The screens auto-advance on their own, and you can swipe back if you want to sit with one a little longer. Nobody has to tap Next three times to get through it.
The bigger decision was what happens to Create Account and Login while all that's going on. I didn't hide them behind slide three. They're pinned on screen from the very first frame, filled button for Create Account, outline for Login, same position, same weight, every single time.
Here's why. A carousel like this is really doing one job: telling someone why the product matters before they've touched it. But if that story is the only way in, you're forcing everyone through it, even the person who already knows exactly why they're here and just wants to sign up. Fixing the buttons means the story runs for the person who needs it, and stays completely out of the way for the person who doesn't.
That's the difference between decoration and a decision. Anyone can put three pretty screens in front of a login form. Deciding what a user is allowed to skip, and what they're never forced to wait for, is the actual design work.
