Designing for therapists means prioritizing what matters in the next few minutes, not just what looks good on a dashboard.
I explored two layout directions for a mental health practice management web app that helps psychologists manage sessions, patients, documentation, tasks, and follow-ups.
Both concepts use the same core widgets, but with different positioning and visual hierarchy. The goal was to make daily priorities easier to scan and act on.
Option A feels a bit more natural for a therapist's workflow. Placing the daily schedule and key priorities right at the top makes it much easier to scan between back-to-back sessions without unnecessary friction. Great focus on practical UX over just aesthetics.
An empty dashboard is the first screen a new account sees.
What changes between the before and after:
1. The headline says what the dashboard is for
2. The sub-headline says what is possible
3. The button names the system to connect
