Your homepage has about 10 seconds to answer four questions. If it cannot, most visitors will leave quietly — no complaint, no enquiry, just a closed tab.

ten seconds is brutal but so true

Brutal is exactly the right word, Salah! And the worst part is visitors never complain — they just quietly leave. That's why I always test a homepage like a first-time visitor before calling it done. Really appreciate you reading it!

That 10-second test is a useful check. A clear headline, one main action, and a short trust line near the top usually answer those questions faster than adding more sections.

Thanks, Nadeem — you're spot on. A clear headline, one main action, and a short trust line near the top do more than adding another section ever will. Most homepages bury that action under too much text, so cutting back to just those three things usually makes the whole page feel clearer straight away.

So true for Shopify stores too. I'd add that on mobile, half those 10 seconds go to load time. A heavy hero video can cost you the visitor before the headline even shows.

Great point, Samuel — on mobile that load time really does eat into the 10 seconds before anyone even reads the headline. A lighter hero that shows the message first makes a big difference. Thanks for adding that!
