Tabby is ready for the Configmakeathon! Tabby — a collaborative budget tracker for shared projects and shared moments
The problem: Whether renovating a home with a partner, splitting a group trip with friends, or tracking a community project, people resort to spreadsheets, group chats, and mental math to figure out who paid what and who owes whom. Existing tools are either too simple (Venmo splits a total but can't track a six-month renovation) or too complex (Excel requires accounting knowledge most people don't have). Nothing sits comfortably in between — collaborative, transparent, and actually pleasant to use.
The solution: Tabby is a collaborative budget tracker designed for real-life shared projects and social splits — built for partners, roommates, and friend groups who want financial clarity without the spreadsheet. From a Home Depot run to a six-month home renovation, Tabby tracks who paid what, splits costs fairly, and settles up simply — all without requiring everyone in the group to create an account.
How it works: A host creates a project, sets an optional budget, and adds collaborators by name. Expenses are added manually or by scanning a receipt, and each line item can be tapped and assigned to specific people. Hence, a dinner bill splits exactly according to what each person ordered, rather than forcing an even split. Tax and tip are distributed proportionally. A net settlement calculator then determines the fewest transactions needed to settle everyone up, with direct Venmo and Cash App payment links generated automatically. Guests never need to download the app or create an account — they receive a simple shareable link showing exactly what they owe and how to pay.
A fun feature added is that you can generate a receipt of things that include what you paid for and what you owe.
