I built a 60-second Descript workflow that saves hours when you push Kaggle kernels from Windows.
The Problem: If you push Kaggle kernels from Windows PowerShell 5, it adds a hidden BOM byte to your kernel-metadata.json and you get Kaggle Error.
The Fix: I switched to PowerShell 7.6.5, ran kaggle kernels push from D:\Dev\kaggle_push, and it strips the BOM.
I recorded the whole before/after in Descript — screen record, auto-transcribe, cut the errors with Underlord, and export for Contra.
This is the other half of the figure 8: past = manual push fails, future = clean push with Descript docs.

I used to give wrong advice. When someone told me they wanted to move from e-commerce to fintech, I'd say: build a fintech project yourself, put it in your portfolio, use it to show your process.
I was wrong. A case study is never just your thinking. It's the product of everything around it and none of that exists in a self-made project.
→ Every company has its own policy
→ Every business has different rules and conditions
→ Maybe the decision came down to investment
→ Maybe it wasn't the right time
→ Maybe the PM believed the MVP had to ship exactly that way
You can look at a shipped screen and think "I'd have solved it better." But you weren't in the middle of the war.
So a fake fintech project proves almost nothing. It's a solution with no constraints behind it.
What actually transfers between industries isn't the domain. It's the thinking. If you're switching sectors, your portfolio should show:
1️⃣ How you think through a problem
2️⃣ How you handled real challenges and constraints
3️⃣ How you communicated and moved people
That's the core of UX. Not the industry logo at the top of the case study. Highlight that, and it becomes your advantage.
