Small comments that shaped me
When I was 18, I introduced myself to my future roommates in an email using my full name.
A roommate later told me her dad thought I was an idiot for doing that because my name was already in the subject line.
Such a small comment. But it stuck.
To this day, I still hesitate before sending emails:
“Should I include my name? Is that dumb?”
It’s wild how one offhand remark can quietly follow you into adulthood.
Even when I send cold emails now, there’s a tiny voice that says:
"They’re going to think you don’t know what you’re doing.”
But here’s what I’ve learned:
Confidence isn’t the absence of insecurity. It’s acting anyway.
No one cares if your name is in the subject line.
They care if you bring value.
So now?
I send the email and wait.
