I believe architects should be building the next generation of billion-dollar companies.
For too long, architecture has been viewed primarily as a profession centered around designing buildings. But the skills architects develop—problem-solving, systems thinking, understanding complex constraints, and bringing ideas into reality—extend far beyond traditional practice.
We're entering a period where AI, construction technology, PropTech, and new business models are reshaping the built environment. And I believe architects should be doing more than adapting to these changes. They should be leading them.
My own journey started in architecture, took me through the University of Michigan and Harvard GSD, and eventually led me to building technology companies.
Along the way, I've realized how many opportunities exist for architects and designers to become founders, technologists, product leaders, and innovators.
I'm excited to start sharing more here about architecture, AI, entrepreneurship, careers beyond traditional practice, and the future of the built environment.
I'm curious: If you have a background in architecture or design, have you ever considered building something outside traditional practice?

Agree on the systems thinking. Architects are trained to hold budget, regulation and people in one head at once, which is most of what running a company is. The missing piece is usually sales, and that is learnable. Which problem would you build a company around first?
