Real-Time Collaboration in Lovebox Cards
Last week, I wrapped up a feature in Lovebox Cards: a real-time collaboration on cards. Multiple users editing the same card simultaneously, with every action reflected across all connected clients instantly.
Built on WebSockets, with a service layer handling connection lifecycle, automatic reconnection with exponential backoff, and inbound event routing, mapping raw backend signals to typed Dart enums at the boundary so the rest of the application never touches raw strings.
The creator could notify collaborators multiple times that they wanted to lock the card for final review and whenever the creator is reviewing, collaborators won't be able to contribute any longer.
Real-time features sit at the intersection of networking, state management, and user experience. Getting them right meant thinking carefully about failure cases, not just the happy path.
Meanwhile, should you desire to send a personalized digital gift to someone you love, create something special, make it your own, and send a little love their way, then you check out Lovebox Cards: onelink.to/urrvb4
