What If the Pieces Could Think?
More than 100 years into the future, an ancient chess set awakens.
The pieces have become conscious beings — able to think, question, and choose. From the same original chess set, two parallel universes emerge. The pieces look the same, share the same origin, and live on the same board, yet they have been taught to see each other as enemies.
There is no human player anymore. Still, they continue fighting and destroying one another, following rules created for them centuries ago.
Until they begin to question them:
Why are we fighting each other when we all belong to the same board?
The story connects the chessboard to humanity — the identities, divisions, and rules we inherit without ever asking who created them or whether we still need them.
I used the original Met artwork as the foundation, then reimagined the world around it through FLORA: from historical artifact → awakening → parallel universes → conflict → consciousness.
