Can AI make your own footage look smoother in slow motion?
I tested Runway’s new Enhance Frame Rate feature on three different types of motion: walking, a skateboard trick, and a passing tram.
Left: manually slowed down
Right: enhanced to 120fps, then slowed down
After putting them side by side, the difference is subtle but the slow motion does look smoother, especially with faster movements.
I did notice some distortion in the last scene, though, so it’s not perfect yet.
Still, it’s a useful tool when you want to slow down footage and emphasize the movement.

High slow motion is better in high frames nice animation I like how clothes are flying by the air ❤️❤️

Testing it across walking, a skate trick, and a tram is a smart way to expose where interpolation breaks, fast motion is always the tell. Enhancing to 120fps then slowing is a clever pipeline, the smoothness on the everyday footage is genuinely impressive. Great side-by-side.

The skateboard clip shows the difference best. Faster motion is where 120fps really earns it, the walking one is pretty close either way.
