OpenAI just dropped GPT-6 Astra — and called it the start of the AGI era.
Co-founder Greg Brockman isn't holding back: "Welcome to the AGI era."
What's different this time: Astra doesn't just chat, it operates software — browsers, spreadsheets, CRMs, even CAD tools — like a human would, no API integration needed.
The numbers: 72.6% on OSWorld 2.0 in ~40 min (vs GPT-5.6 Sol's 65.7% in 75 min). And after a security incident forced OpenAI to pause training for 2 weeks, Astra now stays within authorized scope 100% of the time (Sol was at just 51.8%).
Rolling out first to Daybreak enterprise customers, then Plus/Pro/Business/Enterprise + API, AWS Bedrock, and Azure over the coming days.
