I wrote about financial compatibility in early dating, because I think Gen Z couples need to move past only asking who pays the bill.
That question is relevant, yes.
But the deeper questions matter more:
1. How do you view debt? 2. Do you save? 3. Do you use money to control people? 4. Do you believe in 50/50 only when rent is due, but not when chores, planning, emotional labor, and care work enter the room?
I was raised to believe the man is the provider, and I still believe women should have their own money. I have paid bills in relationships. I believe in spoiling my man too.
But I have also learned to spoil men who spoil me.
This piece is personal, a little controversial, and very Abnormal Gen Z.
