When AI interviews cost $20, judgment becomes the expensive part.
Amazon Connect Talent is offering AI-led interviews, assessments, scoring, transcripts and evaluations for about $20 per completed evaluation and that number matters.
Here's why - The cost of running an interview is heading down fast. The cost of making a bad hiring decision is not.
As AI takes over more of the interview mechanics, I think the differentiator shifts toward something harder to automate:
Can you define what good actually looks like?
Can you design an assessment that measures the work instead of trivia?
Can you tell the difference between a strong answer and a rehearsed one?
Can you recognize when the AI-generated evaluation is missing valuable context?
Recruiting teams are going to be able to interview more people, faster and cheaper.
That doesn’t automatically mean they’ll make better hires.
AI interviewing is going to get even cheaper..soon.
Feels like a lot of companies are trying their luck with AI instead of hiring designers right now.
I think it's going to backfire on them in a few months.
Trying to stay optimistic about it.
The Problem:
Most Shopify stores install a quiz app for $50/month to recommend products. The apps are slow, don't match the brand design, and add to the 15-apps problem.
What I Built:
I built a custom Interactive Ritual Builder directly in Shopify for VERAÉ, my premium textured-hair demo brand - no quiz app.
How it Works - What you see in video:
Start: "Let's understand what your hair is asking for" - 3 simple questions, no overwhelm
Q1: "What would you like your routine to do better?" - Hydration, Definition, Repair, Scalp, Refresh
Q2: "How much structure feels right?" - Simple, Balanced, Complete
Q3: "How often do you usually wash?" - About once a week, About twice a week, It depends
Result: Personalized ritual - Example "Refresh Ritual" - lighter routine for moisture between wash days
Selling: Shows full routine [Wash $28 + Cloud Rinse $29] with total $86 and one-click "Add full routine to cart" - customer builds their own bundle
What I Did:
Built custom diagnostic engine in Liquid - logic analyzes answers and recommends ritual
Built dynamic step-by-step bundling - customers mix-and-match, not forced into one kit
Built conversion architecture - from quiz answer straight to cart with full routine, no friction
Styled to match VERAÉ premium brand - beige, black, editorial fonts - not generic app design
No app installed - faster load, no monthly fee, fully editable in Shopify editor
Context:
Demo project - VERAÉ is my own self-initiated store to show how I build custom experiences without relying on apps. Not client work. No performance claims.
My Goal:
Fewer unnecessary apps and less manual work. Custom code where it matters, lean app stack everywhere else.
A video brief rarely arrives complete. The client leaves out the deadline, or the video length, or the budget, and the quote waits while someone writes back to ask.
I run an AI video business, so I built an n8n workflow for this step. I am submitting it to the n8n template library next.
How it works:
A client emails a brief. The workflow reads the email, the attached PDF and up to three reference images.
OpenAI pulls out the number of videos, their lengths, the deadline and the budget.
If anything is missing, a reply asking only for that is saved in your Gmail drafts. When the client answers, the quote carries on.
Plain code prices the job from your rate card in Google Sheets: volume discount, rush fee, minimum order and deposit. The AI never sets a number.
You approve the price on Slack. A PDF quote is saved to Google Drive, and you approve again to send it or save it as a draft.
Each morning it checks for replies and drafts a follow-up after 3 quiet days. On Mondays you get a short report.
Nothing reaches a client until you press Send it.
The first image is the whole workflow. The second is the middle of it: the AI reads the brief, code checks what is missing, and the price waits for your approval.
