This video is about grieving someone who was never real.
Inspired by my personal experience these days of becoming attached to a fictional character who suddenly disappeared before his release, the story follows a girl who finds comfort and happiness in someone who only fictional. He makes her lonely days feel warmer, gives her something to look forward to, and becomes a quiet source of hope.
But when he vanishes before ever truly arriving, she is left with a kind of heartbreak that is hard to explain.
Through this video, I wanted to show that fictional characters may not exist in our world, but the emotions they give us are real.
The comfort is real. The happiness is real. The grief is real.
SPROUT — Grow Good Things 🌱
SPROUT is an original mascot created for a fictional eco-lifestyle brand that encourages people to make small everyday actions count—planting, recycling, protecting nature, and spreading kindness.
Rather than designing just a cute character, I built an entire visual identity system around Sprout, ensuring the mascot stays instantly recognizable across every touchpoint. From the custom wordmark and color palette to merchandise, packaging, stickers, app icon, environmental storytelling, and animation, every asset was created to feel like part of one cohesive world.
The floating water spirit represents life, growth, and hope, while Sprout's glowing leaf symbolizes that even the smallest act can create lasting change.
This project explores how a single mascot can become the face of an entire fictional brand through consistent design, storytelling, and scalable applications.

Role: Guardian of Growth
Personality: Curious, optimistic, adventurous, compassionate, playful, and endlessly encouraging.
Sprout believes every tiny action matters. Whether planting a seed, helping nature, or inspiring someone else, Sprout reminds us that big change always starts small.

Kaguya — The Moon Princess🌕
Kaguya is Japan's oldest folktale — a princess discovered inside a stalk of bamboo, destined to one day return to the moon. Using Rive, I brought this story to life as an interactive character living inside an app.
She responds to three kinds of input:
Touch — As the story unfolds, tapping the bamboo three times brings her into the world, born from the stalk. Tap her, and joy or surprise appears at random. Offer her the treasures, and the fakes are exposed — bursting into flames or cracking apart.
Data — Each treasure the suitors offer shifts her emotional state. As her mood value drops, her expression gradually falls, and the world draws her closer to the moon.
Motion — Tilt your device, and the moon's pull literally reaches for her. Her body and her adoptive parents' hands respond in real time. The device's accelerometer (via Expo) reads the tilt and feeds that value straight into Rive.
Everything was built in Rive — State Machine, Data Binding, nested ViewModels, and a 1D Blend for the tilt animation. By embedding it into a React Native (Expo) app, I aimed for a character that isn't a sticker placed on top of the product, but one that truly lives inside it.
I'm a solo indie developer and illustrator from Japan. The art, rigging, animation, and code — I made every part of it myself.
