Medical Literature Search & Evidence Synthesis
Project: Association Between Vitamin D Deficiency and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)
Conducted a structured medical literature search investigating the association between vitamin D deficiency and PCOS, including metabolic, hormonal, and reproductive outcomes.
What I did:
Developed the research question and PICO framework
Created comprehensive keyword, synonym, MeSH, and Boolean search strategies
Searched PubMed/MEDLINE, Embase, Cochrane Library, Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar
Applied predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria
Identified and organized relevant systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and randomized controlled trials
Extracted key study information including authors, year, study design, sample size, outcomes, and findings
Created an evidence table to compare the identified literature
Synthesized findings across the available evidence
Assessed the strength and consistency of evidence across outcomes
Prepared a concise evidence-based conclusion and selected references
Deliverable: A structured medical literature-search report containing the research question, PICO framework, search strategy, MeSH terms, keywords, study-selection criteria, evidence table, evidence synthesis, conclusions, and references.
