Contra sent me a survey about how AI is changing freelancers' work — and it made me realize I have a lot to say. So here's part 1.
What used to need a team or weeks — graphics, research, packaging — I now do solo in days. AI didn't replace me. It removed the slow parts, so I deliver more, faster, and cheaper.

This one hits close to home. 🛠️
For the Base44 #GiveItAGlow challenge, I wanted to give a massive upgrade to a family-owned business that means a lot to me: Champion Auto Glass, a local shop serving South Texas. Having worked there for a summer, I know exactly how hard the team works, and how much manual effort goes into managing operations.
The Before: Their online presence was a static, text-heavy page. Customers had to call or email manually, leaving the team stuck playing phone tag to coordinate vehicle details, glass types, and opening times.
The After: Built completely on Base44, I transformed it into a type-safe, sleek, multi-step web application. Customers can now select their exact service (Rock Chip vs. Windshield Replacement), input their vehicle make/model, and seamlessly book an available slot in seconds.
The Automation & AI Depth: Instead of just sending an email notification, this app wires directly into a custom internal management dashboard:
- Live Job Queue & Quote Manager: Instantly logs every submission into structured customer profiles.
- A custom tuned Champion AI Super Agent: An embedded operational assistant. The team can simply type, "List all the rock chip appointments scheduled for this morning," and the AI instantly queries the backend database to return a structured schedule.
Saving time, eliminating phone friction, and putting AI directly into the hands of a local small business.
