Making things look bad is sometimes harder than making them look good.
For the opening of the Epic Games Fab launch trailer, the brief was specific: a "dusty garage full of old assets." It needed to feel cluttered, forgotten, and ready for a change.
As 3D artists, we usually fight for clean renders. Here, I had to lean in the opposite direction. I spent a lot of time on set dressing, scattering assets haphazardly, and using heavy atmospheric fog and volumetric lighting to create that thick, dusty air. It was all about establishing the mood before the transition.
