Your competitor isn't beating you because of backlinks. They're winning because their page answers one more question than yours. That's it.
900 million people use ChatGPT every week. AI doesn't pick the biggest website. It picks the page that covers the topic the most. If your rival covers one point you missed, AI skips you. And your buyer never finds you.
Here's how I fix this 👇
Find the gap Open Google Search Console. Look at your top pages. Lots of views but very few clicks? That's a gap. People are looking. AI just isn't picking you.
Ask AI what you missed Paste your page and your rival's link into Claude. Ask: "List every point this rival covers that I don't."
Fill the gap Write short answers, under 60 words. Say your brand name early so AI links it to you. Add FAQ schema and a few inside links.
Publish. Index. Track. Repeat. And here's the part most people get stuck on — step 4. How do you actually see if ChatGPT, Gemini, or Perplexity start mentioning you?
