The colours Iraq lost
every old photo of iraq i find is faded brown and grey, and this one is about losing your culture, alot of people here forgot theirs trying to be modern and some are still proud and remember, its like a lost art. so i went looking for what we lost, the old wooden houses on the tigris, the marshes that got dried up in the 90s, the copper market in baghdad with only a few coppersmiths left. prokudin-gorsky was taking colour photos around 1905 to 1915 in samarkand and the caucasus (library of congress, no known restrictions) but he never came to iraq. so i made a recraft style out of his photos and used it to take the pictures he never got to take. none of these are real photos, i wish they were
