44 years ago today, the first known PC virus was written by Richard Skrenta.
It wasn’t malware as we know it today Elk Cloner was more of an experiment, spreading via floppy disks and showing a playful poem on infected systems.
What started as curiosity eventually shaped an entire industry: cybersecurity, antivirus software, ethical hacking, and digital defense.
A small piece of code can change the direction of technology for better or worse.
Still fascinating how it all began.
