šŸ”® The Cursed Arcana: a dark tarot where some cards carry a curse
Hi! I'm Daniela, and this is my entry for the Rive Halloween Challenge.
The Cursed Arcana is a spooky tarot experience. You pick what's on your mind (love, career, self, choice, or the unknown), draw three cards for your past, present, and future, and watch the Arcana reveal them. But beware: every reading hides at least oneĀ cursed card, and when it shows up, things get glitchy and possessed. šŸ‘»
How I built it
Rive CLI:Ā I described the scene to my coding agent and it wrote it in RML, with live previews as I iterated. The scene is inĀ scene.rmlĀ and I pushed it to my Rive file withĀ rive push.
GPU Canvas:Ā I wrote WGSL shaders for a flickering candle flame, crystal glass, window atmosphere, and the cursed possession glitch.
State Machines, Data Binding & Scripting:Ā these drive the card reveals and connect the scene to the tarot engine, which decides the cards, curses, and the reading.
Human touch:Ā all the illustrations and artwork are my own, and I refined the motion by hand in the Rive Editor.
A quick note about the web versionĀ āš ļø For some reason, the GPU Canvas shaders don't show up in the browser build yet, so the web demo runs without them. To see the full effect (candle flicker, glass, and the cursed glitch), please check the video below!
