UNsaid Journal
What it does
UNsaid Journal is a private emotional check-in and journaling web app designed to help people acknowledge their feelings without feeling pressured to always be positive. Users can check in by choosing how they feel, optionally write a journal note, and watch their personal garden grow based on their emotional check-ins. Positive emotions help the garden move forward through five stages: Seed, Sprout, Growing Plant, Bud, and Bloom. Difficult emotions can move the garden back one stage, reflecting the reality that emotional growth is not always linear.
The problem it solves
Many wellness and productivity apps focus heavily on streaks, goals, and constant progress. This can make people feel like having a difficult day means they have failed or lost their progress. UNsaid Journal takes a gentler approach. It visualizes emotional growth as a garden, where moving backwards is not failure but simply another part of the journey. The goal is to create a calm space where every emotion is valid and users can continue at their own pace.
How I built it
I built UNsaid Journal as a responsive web app using Bubble, using Bubble's AI-assisted building tools to create and refine the application. I designed the experience around a simple check-in → reflection → garden progression flow. Bubble's database stores users, emotional check-ins, and journal entries. A growth-points system connects check-in emotions to the garden: positive emotions increase the user's progress, difficult emotions decrease it by one stage, while neutral or uncertain emotions leave the progress unchanged. Conditional workflows then display the appropriate garden image for the user's current stage.
The visual experience uses custom garden illustrations for the five growth stages, combined with a soft, calming interface to reinforce the idea that emotional wellbeing is a process rather than a race.
UNsaid Journal was built around one simple idea: you don't have to feel okay all the time to keep growing.
