Hey Contra community! 👋
I’m currently a 3rd-year Computer Science student, and to be completely honest, there are days I still feel like a total 1st-year facing the massive gap between classroom theory and real-world tech.
To bridge that gap and build actual hands-on experience, I decided to leap into the deep end: I launched my own web development startup, Mintora.
Right now, I operate as a solo developer, though I’ve built a reliable network of fellow student developers ready to jump in whenever a larger project needs a full team. For the past month, I’ve been grinding—building interactive portfolio demos, polishing Mintora’s brand identity, and doing cold outreach to local cafes and restaurants.
So far, I haven't landed that first official client yet. Since I'm running this on a strict zero-budget student setup, paid outreach tools, ads, or premium services aren't an option right now.
I’m sharing this here for two reasons:
To my seniors & experienced pros: What advice would you give a student developer trying to land their first high-ticket or local client on a $0 budget? Are there outreach channels, portfolio strategies, or mindset shifts I might be missing?
To potential clients: If you’re looking for an eager, high-reaching developer to build a modern, high-converting web presence for your brand—without the massive agency markup—let’s talk!
