The most dangerous advice in ecommerce is "just run more ads."
I have watched store owners burn $3,000, $5,000, $10,000 in ad spend on a store converting at 0.6%.
They come to me afterward.
"My ads aren't working."
The ads were working fine.
The problem is that 994 out of every 1,000 people they paid to send to their store left without buying.
That is not an ad's problem. That is a store problem.
And here is what nobody tells you about the math:
If your store converts at 0.6% and you fix it to 2%: You just tripled your revenue without spending a single extra dollar on ads.
Same budget. Same traffic. 3x the sales.
That is the opportunity that most store owners walk past every single day because they are too focused on the ads dashboard.
The industry average Shopify conversion rate is 1.4%. Top stores hit 3% to 6%. Most new stores sit at 0.5% to 0.9%.
The gap between where you are and where the top stores are that gap is your money. Sitting there. Uncollected.
Before you increase your ad budget, answer these:
What is your current conversion rate? (Check Shopify Analytics right now) What is your mobile conversion rate specifically? When did you last complete a real checkout on your phone as a test?
If you don't know the answers, you don't have an ads problem. You have a data problem.
And data problems are much cheaper to fix than ad spend problems.
What's your store's current conversion rate? Drop it below, I'll tell you if it's healthy or not.
